Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then located multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say early analysis indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; investigators are currently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.
Local authorities said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for details.
A high-ranking representative commented the incident left him without words and required to be addressed promptly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
